This self-portrait was sketched from an original
photograph taken of Lily at age four.
A profile of artist/author Lily Cavell would be incomplete
without first examining her spiritual roots: a very proper; very strict;
very-very British Christian Boarding School. It was here, under the
close supervision of "aunties', Lily was taught to read the Bible and
obey the Commandments. One of which, was to not even sew a button on
a garment if it was on the Sabbath. Painful as this sometimes seemed
to be, it was here, Lily Cavell the Youngest member of a well known
theatrical family, was allowed to follow the tradition of her parents and
perform the delightful role of an 'angel'. A part that would set the stage
for God's purpose in her life.
"to give them beauty for
ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit
of heaviness;".
Today, contentedly settled in her high-rise Art Studio
located in the City of the Angels, Lily Cavell still exhibits the same
exuberance and the same dedication to her original dream. She says:
"How wonderful to have passed through the "wilderness"
where I was fed with "manna" from on High. How
wonderful to have experience "water" spewing out from the
"rock"...the hard places in life. For how else could I
have crossed over into The "Promised Land" and, taking
His precious "Grace Gifts" to the marketplace, hear Him
say: "well done",
"thou hast been faithful
over a few things, I will make you ruler over many; -enter though into the
joy of thy Lord".
"So dear ones, if you have a
special dream and at times sigh for rest beside the still waters, please
recall the Master Plan and..."
Keep your dreams
'Cause when you do
He's sure
to make them all
come true.
